Thank you - 6 June 2007

A letter of thanks  has been received from The Revd Anthony Ball,  The Archbishop of Canterbury's Assistant Secretary for International, Ecumenical and Anglican Affairs, Lambeth Palace.

It thanks the Parish of Leighton-cum-Minshull Vernon for the £300 it has raised for Bethlehem and the Holy Land, through the Lent soup kitchens at the home of Monica and Ted Bermingham.

The money will be forwarded to Le Creche which is a charity which houses orphaned and abandoned children as well as providing creche and care facilities for young children from very poor families.

Their website address is
http://www.saintvincentguesthouse.net/creche/creche_en.htm

"The Archbishop is very grateful for the support, both financial and in prayer, for peace in the Middle East, and sends his very best wishes to the Parish of Leighton cum Minshull Vernon."

Swimathon 22-25 March 2007

Thank you to those who recently sponsored me to swim the "Individual 5 Kilometres" in the Marie Curie Swimathon. I completed the distance, 200 lengths of Nantwich pool, in 1hr 55 mins, which was 2 minutes faster than my time last year. The total I have raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care this year is £116.90.

4 Lent Soup Kitchens and A Coffee Morning

Soup and daffodils Thank you Monica for the Lent soup kitchens and coffee morning and to everyone who supported these events.

The soups were excellent.  I think there were 14 different ones altogether.  There were many  soups appropriate for celebrations in the calendar e.g. St David's Leek and Potato, St Patrick's Day Soup and Tomato (Red Nose Day).  It was also nice to try some more unusual varieties too, like the Beetroot and Orange.  I was a bit hesitant to try this one, but I am very glad I did; it was lovely.  I think my favourite is still the Halloween Tomato and Vegetable at the first soup kitchen.

Thank you Monica and Ted for the very warm welcome into your home on each of these occasions.

Raffle prize winners - Lilian, Ted, Dorothy, Pat, Ellen and Mick

All proceeds for the Archbishop of Canterbury's Appeal for Bethlehem and the Holy Land
