Congratulations to St Leonard's Church for their fabulous flower festival (18 - 20 July).  I am sure this was an inspiration to many from St Peter's.  We are hoping to have our own flower festival next year.

CONFIRMATION AT ST MARY’S, WISTASTON

13 April 2008

Confirmation at St Mary's, Wistaston. 13 April 2008

A number of our folk were able to get along to St Mary’s, Wistaston, on Sunday 13 April to support our candidates for confirmation. It must have been an encouragement for Emily, Charlotte and Rob to see familiar faces in addition to their own friends and family. Our 3 were joined by 5 others from St Mary’s.

The church was full. More came than had been expected – the service sheets ran out, and extra bread and wine had to be consecrated. The hymns were mainly modern and went with a swing. Music was provided by a talented music group.

Bishop John Hayden, an auxiliary bishop in our diocese, performed the confirmation. He beamed as he prayed over each candidate and anointed his/her forehead with oil. In his sermon he spoke about the importance of families and communities.

After the service, folks gathered for a happy ‘Bring and Share’ lunch. I don’t think anyone went away hungry. Spiritually, too, we had been well fed.

Grateful thanks to St Mary’s for ‘hosting’ the confirmation. Congratulations to Emily, Charlotte and Rob for declaring their Christian allegiance.
